My subscription is gone...oh well. I don't know that I feel like renewing it. I am watching money thanks to a checking account fiasco last week...Mom's checking account that is. I have bounced a check exactly once.
Mom bounces them exactly...once a day...just kidding...but it's frequently.
Yeah, yeah...stop saving her ass.

Speaking of asses and Mom and saving...I need to get off my bum and get to Mom's and give her some gas money and oil change money so she can come and take Becca to her Girl Scouts sleep over. I am not leaving my sick husband alone all night. I also need to find them both sleeping bags.
I got the healthy snack, the pretzels for something called "Gorp" ...which sounds very unhealthy, and I would like to buy her some trendy PJs...like I said, I am watching money. I allot myself a certain dollar amount each week. I have more in the bank...but I don't bother it. If I am out of the allotted amount...I am out of money. Please think about that when you are saying how lucky I am ...blah, blah...no fair...blah... It isn't anymore than most people make in a week of working an office job...possibly less.
I am careful with it.

I am also trying to help my girlfriend out. Her guy left her for another woman...well, actually he was hoping she would let him have her AND the other woman. She said she didn't think so.
All he left behind was a ton of bills including a mortgage. But it is a small one and nearly paid off. I am trying to get it completely paid off, and then she will not have that hanging over her head.
She wants to pay me back, but making another debt would defeat the purpose of paying off the house in the first place.
But anyway, between that and Mom's 500 dollar check writing spree...I am a bit short.
And yeah...I had to break the rule of not spending anymore than allotted...emergencies don't count. And I feel keeping my Mom out of jail and getting the checks covered and/or paid before extra charges are applied, qualifies.

Again...I don't want her to try and pay me back...I would just be giving it right back to her because she cannot afford to pay me back.
That is the big secret nasty about loans...if you need one then you probably cannot afford whatever you are taking the loan out for.
This is in many cases...not all...but definitely many.

I am officially in a proper drawing class.

And I think I am going to try my hand at skinning.
I will start out simple with some objectdock backgrounds and icons.
It let's me indulge my love of coordinating things, and my love of shiny.
My ultimate goal is maybe to do a dark theme that is legible in all applications.

My daughter cracks me up. We have a circular path in our house...it was built with an uninterupted circle as are many houses. Donna gets the urge several time a day to run around it at full speed. I just get stuff out of her way, espeically if weather doesn;t really ler her go outside. And believe me...over 90 degrees is just too damn hot in my opinion to go out AND to run.
I love her intense expression as she makes her rounds.
I am very happy she will have a HUGE circle in the new house.
Not to mention several acres outdoors.
I think I have a future track star...of course I thought that when she was a baby and ran from me as soon as she started walking...and I couldn't catch Miss Speedy.

I have to go fast...so please forgive any errors in spelling, etc.

I have to talk about digital painting and the absolute crap that is in the DA digi paint gallery. I am mostly talking about things that are NOT digital paintings...and I think people are very confused as to what exactly that is.

What is digital painting NOT?
By MY OWN humble opinion, digital painting is not;

painting over a photo
running a filter on a photo
cutting and pasting elements of photos and arranging them on a new canvas.

Where do photos come into digital painting?

As a reference to LOOK at. Not to use in the piece, although I would say it is probably fine to trace the photo for line work only This is done a lot in traditional work. Not my own...but it is done. That's one reason I take awhile to update. I have to work out the proportions and such. But I dont see it as cheating to get your line work and then you do the shading, etc...thats the toughest part in my opinion anyways....But it is not ok to paint over a photo using the photos to support your poor painting skills.
( I could use your opinion if you haoppen to be a very experienced traditional artist...like you, Ron...please....and I am working on Photoshop..I too need a copy, damn it!)

Anyways...

If you are getting the look of your painting by running filters or by letting a photo support your weak shading, then that is in my opinion a photo manipulation and you really need to stop putting your work into the digi paint gallery!

Other sore spots.

People who don't understand what a technical drawing is.
People who don't know what a still life is.
Before you submit to those catagories again...go read the description.I will clue you into one thing...a photo of your girlfriend does not go into the technical drawing catagory nor the still life catagory.
But the plans to your new kitchen DO go into the technical drawings gallery and so do medical illustrations...usually.
A still life never has an animated living thing in it...if it can walk around and isnt a tree, then it isnt a still life. Trees of course go under landscape. ( An exception to this would be something like a bonsai. It isnt out in nature but it is not animated...it and flower arrangements would fall into the still life gallery. They have been brought in from the outdoors, so are not landscape material.)

Why does it matter?

Because some people like to view art and cant for having to wade through all the crap in their chosen catagory.
And others have children to feed and they need their art to be easy to locate.
And I am sorry to say this...but because it is the right thing to do. It helps this wonderful site that has given you unlimited space to show your art and unlimited opportunities for friendship, to run better.

According to Firefox spell check I am spelling catagory incorrectly. I will fix it when I am not about to actually go feed those children I mentioned. I fear they are about to eat me.
